This page features a video diary and supporting materials that document the creation of an engineerguy video on the "origins" -- in quotes because it is a tricky concept in history -- of the silicon-based integrated circuit. It isn't a standard history, but one that instead focuses on several apparently unrelated events that paved the way for the integrated circuit. Alas, the video production was interruped by the COVID 19 pandemic, writing a book on the engineering method, and the HVAC renovation that keep me out of my studio for nearly two years. I hope to return to this!
